5Works great for intended purpose
By James
I was extremely skeptical when I saw this product in a local store. I did some research as I was looking for a DA polisher for my truck. The review photos and videos on some of the auto detailing forums made me believe this would actually work as claimed, so I decided it was worth the risk of trying it.

I used it to compound, polish and wax my entire truck using the appropriate pads for each step. This took a long time. A very long time. I had moderate to severe oxidation over the entire vehicle. The end results were just as good as if I had a larger dedicated DA polisher. All of the chalky hazy swirl covered spots were removed and left my paint looking crystal clear.

Part of the reason this took so long was my use of a Porter Cable 18v Lithium Ion cordless drill. The other part would be that this 4" DA adapter should be used to compliment a full size buffer. It does work, and it works well. It's just not the most practical tool for doing an entire v ehicle with. This would be a great addition to a full size DA buffer for use in areas such as door jambs, under mirrors and any other area where you need a smaller buffing pad.

I have two of the standard size batteries for my drill and as one charged I used the other one. I never had down time due to the batteries other than the time it took to swap them out.

The adapter is very easy to hold and control. It felt surprisingly natural using this with my drill. It did cause some very slight strain when using it on horizontal surfaces, but nothing to give it a bad review for. On vertical surfaces it was extremely comfortable and went exactly where I wanted it to go with no unexpected effort.

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone considering it, you just have to be realistic in it's capabilities. The drill used also makes a large difference. If I had used a corded drill with a little higher RPM rating the cutting pad and cutting compound wou ld have done it's job with less passes over the paint.

5Great Improvement over waxing by hand
By mikey
Well, I just did a full detail today using the DA Power Tool from Meguiars. I used a cordless drill and here were my experiences. I have never used a DA or rotary buffer before...

From a design perspective the tool is the perfect size with a drill set-up, it fits comfortably when using the drill and allows you to easily manipulate the tool. Really the hardest thing about operating the tool is controlling the speed. My natural instinct was to "gun it" full throttle with the drill, but I found it worked much better at applying by going mid speed. The smaller size of the pad allows you to do the whole car without having to change the pad to get smaller areas (like trunk). I would imagine things would go faster with a larger pad but personally liked that I could focus my attention to smaller areas at a time.

In terms of whether it saves time, I would say yes, especially when it comes to waxing. For polishing, I found that it was somewhat faster (marginal ly in my opinion) because you could only do small sections at a time anyways before having to wipe off the polish.

In terms of results- I would say that using the tool did a better job at removing swirls than doing it by hand- it didn't remove all imperfections but very good IMO. In terms of shine and depth of color, I notice no improvement.

In terms of effort- I would say that while I am still tired from doing a full detail, that my hands and arms are much less tired than doing by hand- very worth it in my opinion.

In terms of using with a cordless drill-- yes you can use this with a cordless drill, just have a second battery back up. I was able to do half of the vehicle on one battery.

Bottom line- for a DIY'er that does not want to spend a lot on equipment, requires cordless operation and save their hands from abuse I would definitely recommend this tool! I am very happy with my purchase, for $60 you really can't go wrong.
