Product Description

Spray-on wax, is just that. It is meant to get you from wash to wash with added protectant. Think of it as a base wax enhancer. When used on a regular basis after each wash, you will be able to extend the life of your natural waxes and paint sealants. Apply it right after you've washed and rinsed your car. Just spray on and wipe off as you're towel drying your car. Even if you didn't get all the dirt off every single area, it has enough lubricants to clean those areas up with your towel and leave behind a deep gloss. Speed Shine should still be used between washes, but spray-on wax should be used after each wash. Finest sprayer sold separately.

4It does what it's supposed to do. It's not a real wax job, it's a wax enhancer/detailer.
By Dan K
I've been an avid detailing enthusiast since 1995 and I have been using Griot's products exclusively since 2003. Overall I like their products and they have certainly met my expectations. I have been using Spray-on Wax for several years now and I will offer you my take on this specific product.

First, it smells like bananas. Seriously, I enjoy spraying the car because it makes the air smell like bananas. It's even yellow like a banana.

You have to understand what this product is and what it isn't. Don't buy it thinking that it is a true spray-on wax. This product can either be used as a high gloss enhancer or a base-wax enhancer. If you have a coat of wax already on your car, after you wash the car, you spray this product on while the car is still wet and then dry it. The "base-wax" then becomes enhanced or rejuvenated. If your car is not waxed, you can also use this product to enhance the gloss and you should get some basic protection and "slip peryness" for a few days.

This product has to be applied to a freshly washed car that is already wet. Do not try to apply this to a dry car as you will get streaks. I've generally avoid spraying on glass and plastic but during application some mist does get on these surfaces and I have not noticed any streaking. Of course, the final step for me is to clean the windows with glass cleaner so if there is any streaking, the glass cleaner will take it away. I highly recommend you use this product with their waffle-weave drying towel. Actually, I think this product works best with that towel as it not only dries the car faster but it spreads the wax around uniformly without any lint. I no longer dry my cars with cotton towels as they don't work as well as microfiber IMO. Also the waffle-weave microfiber towel cuts drying time in half as you just simply have to go over the paint with one pass and it absorbs all the water. Cotton products tend to streak and they al ways leave behind lint.

I'll give the product 4 stars simply because it is rather expensive. Griot's sells you 35oz with no sprayer and the 35oz gets used up faster than you would think. Also, Griot's is still mail-order for the most part so you can't just buy this one product alone; you usually have to buy a few items to make the shipping worthwhile. I'd give it five stars if it was more economical and had more protection. (EDIT: As of 10/25/11, Griot's still has FREE SHIPPING).

As far as durability, I personally use this as a gloss enhancer and I can get a few days of shine on a freshly WASHED car. This is demonstrated by the fact that the water will still bead up after a few days. To save money, when my car is already waxed, I don't apply this product as the base wax is much stronger than this. Other than that, Spray-on Wax is no substitute for a monthly or bi-monthly wax job. The only thing that I wish Griot's would change is that I wish they co uld "juice" this Spray-on Wax up as well as their Speed Shine. I want more protection from this product and I want more durability from the Speed Shine. In other words, I would like to use the Speed Shine as a gloss enhancer and the Spray-On Wax as a true spray-on wax.

Griot's products are really for garage-kept vehicles and show cars, I think they are overkill for daily drivers. In the next year, I am planning on switching back to Meguiar's or Mothers due to price. Also I have had a few quality control issues with Griot's bottles and sprayers that are kind of annoying.

I have no problem recommending Griot's products though. The Spray-on Wax is a good product when used correctly and I think you will like it.

5SHINEEEE
By Zac
Makes your car slick and shiny. I use it between waxes. Just spray on and wipe off, nothing special. Also it uses less wipes to become dry. Use it on glass and plastic surfaces. And also your interior.
