5Works as advertised
By Postal Grunt
Despite my lack of creativity for a title, I do like this product. Following their suggested procedure is relatively simple resulting in a durable shine that lasts through summer or winter conditions. People who like to admire water beading qualities of a wax or finishing sealant will enjoy this stuff. A little dab goes a long way so the cost is reasonable in the long run.

5Excellent product!

Sad to see that no one has reviewed this outstanding product. Kragen/Oreilly used to sell it, Napa still does. I've noticed several auto parts stores and even Wal Mart with it on clearance for some reason. Probably doesn't sell well since $16 is kind of pricey for a car wax/polish, plus people usually only associate 3M with adhesives and sandpaper. Meguiars NXT 2.0 is similar and way more popular, seems flashy packaging works. Turtle Wax 2001, NuFinish and TR3 Resin Glaze are all similar waxing solutions, as they say. I like all of these products since they don't contain carnauba wax. None provide the awesome, deep shine of carnauba wax, but they seal and protect the paint better, in my opinion.

I really like Meguiars products, although I must say that Barry Meguiar is a little creepy (have you seen the show Car Crazy on Speed?) Creepy or not, I will still buy his products, but I must say that the 3M Performance Finish is superior to the original Meguia rs NXT wax. The NXT 2.0 improved formula lasts a little longer, but still no match for the 3M product. Any wax will feel smooth to the touch right after application, so that isn't the real issue here. Although what is really impressive is how the 3M Performance Finish stays slick to the touch for literally 2-3 months! Around that time I've noticed more friction when rubbing the paint with my fingers. Still beads water amazingly well 6 months later, and counting. The Meguiars NXT 2.0 loses is slickness after several weeks, water beading not long after that. I've read about other people's similar results online, so I am confident that it's not just me. My results were on a clear coat, or two-stage painted car kept outside. Single stage finishes will probably not hold-up as long.

My main concern is protecting my car's finish. I live in a cold, coastal environment so the salt mist in the air absolutely destroys clear-coat finishes. Throw in some occasional heat and sun and it's amazing how you constantly see even 5-6 year old cars here with no more clear-coat on the roof and hood! In my mind, a lab created, synthetic polymer type sealant will be more effective at protecting the paint longer than a carnauba palm tree from Brazil can. If extreme shine on your garage-kept show car is your goal, carnauba is the ticket.

The other great thing about the 3M Performance Finish is the application process. You literally wipe it on, then immediately buff it off! No drying time, or hazing required. The instructions are very specific about this. Amazing. Even better is the fact that I scored 15 bottles at the local Grocery Outlet in the automotive section, clearance priced at $2.99 each! What a score!

5Terrific product
By carnut in Texas
I have used 3M Performance Polish many times on my MB S430 and my Lexus LS430. Works equally well on dark and light colors. Has a terrific feel to it after application. No residue and is long lasting.
